Thank You for Smoking

I had heard good stuff about this movie and wasn't let down. This satire is the story of a tobacco spokesperson who works to defend the tobacco industry, and if finding himself increasingly under attack from anti-tobacco advocates, which is what I used to do for a living.

Aaron Eckhart is really great as Nick, and the movie was really funny and clever, but not too over the top. He lunches with two other spokespeople, one who defends booze, the other guns.

It really was pretty great, but one little thing bugged me a ton. There was a scene at lunch when they were eating a piece of pie with cheese on it. Maria Bello tears into the pie and the cheese clearly falls of the pie and isn't that melted. But int he next scene it is back in place, and becomes a focal point of the scene, and this sort of slip should have been caught, especially if there were going to pay that much attention to the pie. It really bugged me!

Also, if anyone goes pay attention, I don't think anybody smokes during the entire movie.

The more I have thought about it, the more I am convinced it's a great movie, brilliant satire.

Didn't notice the cheese thing...movie flubs are entertaining actually. One of my favorites I saw on some tv show about movie mistakes. It was one of the really old Superman episodes (the black and white ones). Superman is standing there talking to someone, the camera cuts to the person he is talking to just for a second, and then back to Superman again. But, when it returns to Superman, his tight pants made it very obvious that his "package" had jumped from pointing left to pointing right. :)

Having trouble emailing you, so here is some information on Costa Rica...
I stayed in Manuel Antonio @ Hotel Kekoldi 506.248.0804 or 1.786.221.9011
Directly across the road is an amazing little resturan/bar that is poised on a cliff that over looks this amazing cove. Great Pina Coladas with the freshest fruit.
In Quepos I stayed at Arboleda Hotel 506.777.1056 which was also nice but I enjoyed the town of Manuel Antonio best. I also went up to Playa Hermosa to surf for a couple of days, but I camped on the beach with friends. It was so remote but there are a few hotels there. Email me if you have more questions!!

Remember in Crossroads when the pregger bitch is talking in the mirror and in one cut Britney's friend has a cigarette in her ear and in the next shot it disappears and in the next it reappears and that happens for like ten minutes?

thank you for smoking... thank you for not smoking... thank you for smoking... thank you for not smoking...

One of the four signs of cultural decay: lack of imagination. C'mon, who cares? Say it with me, "I never did mind the little things."

I'm seeing this movie tomorrow.

I work at a movie theatre, and you would be amazed at how many people came up and asked for tickets to "Thank You For NOT Smoking." I guess we've been beaten over the head with that phrase, and even movies aren't safe.
