Hearts of Palm

Seriously, these are so weird. I sort of like them in salads in stuff, but I don't get what the hell they are.

They're the heart of the palm, duh. One of my favorite foods. They have great ones packed in water at trader joes. One time I made homemade calzones with pepperoni and hearts of palm. Double yum.

Yes, like a palm tree, exactly. It's like the heart of the artichoke, but for a palm tree.

Here's further info (from wikipedia): Heart of palm, also called palm heart, palmito, or swamp cabbage, is a vegetable harvested from the inner core and growing bud of certain palm trees (notably the coconut (Cocos nucifera), Palmito Juçara (Euterpe edulis), Açaí palm (Euterpe oleracea), sabal (Sabal spp.)
